Once more Jesus spoke to the people in parables, saying ” The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his slaves to call those who have been invited to the wedding banquet, but they would not come. Again he sent slaves, saying tell those who have been invited: Look I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered and everything is ready: Come to the wedding banquet; But made light of it and went away, one to his farm and one to his business, while the rest seized his slaves, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his Troops, Destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. Then he said to his slaves, The wedding is ready, but Those invited were not worthy Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet; those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests But when the king came in to see the guest he noticed a man there who was not wearing a wedding robe and said to him Friend how did you get in without a wedding robe? And he was speechless, The king said to the attendants ‘ bind him hand and foot and throw him into the outer darkness Where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth; FOR many are called but few are chosen”. Matthew, 22: 1-14
Let’s think about this for a moment. What if
the Lord called you, would you answer? Or would you just turn your back on Him? A lot of folks do these days and for what? Something better? There is nothing better than Glory Land. The kingdom of heaven compared to a wedding banquet. God is preparing a feast for us in honor of his son Jesus Christ and those of us who keep the faith and as followers. Let us go and invite those out there to join us at the table the God has set for us and honor His son, our savior, Jesus Christ. Go tell those in the streets, on the farms and shops, for those that turn a deaf ear to God on Judgment Day will be tossed into the darkness for all eternity.
We have and will be mocked and mistreated and even have been killed because of our faith and there are those who wish to destroy us because of it. Stand fast and hold your ground, my brothers and sisters. Let us stay the course, we will win the battle against the evil in the world, not all is lost. Let us tend to our flocks and invite more in to the fold and pray for those who need our help. Over the years I have seen churches die out because of bickering over petty things; like the youth being too loud in Sunday school. Folks don’t stop to think that they the youth) are the future of the church, or when the congregation is asked to give to the poor. In my belief, that’s one of the first rules of Christianity, to help those less fortunate. Remember the Good Samaritan? We must help our brothers and sisters in their times of need. Or you can look at it this way, Christ is our Shepard and we are His flock. How would you feel if Christ turned His back on us in our time of need? That is something to ponder on. Ask yourself; are you WORTHY to enter the kingdom of Heaven?
In closing, I would like each of you out there to invite someone to church. It doesn’t matter if they have a lot of money or how they’re dressed; the only thing that DOES matter is what’s in their heart. For those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, thou and thou house shall be saved.
Let us pray. “Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen”
