Wake up to demonic activity in world

By CHARLIE GABLE / Pastor’s Pen, Kearney Hub

We only have to pay attention to the daily news to recognize the evil that has been let loose in our world. From parents willfully killing their defenseless children to the horrors of the militant ISIL warriors, to the slaying of innocent men, women and children in the areas of our country where gang warfare reigns supreme. Whether we choose to believe it or not, all of these are manifestation of severe demonic activity.
The Bible relates vividly and overwhelmingly the continual contacts that humanity has with demonic spirits. From Eve’s encounter with the serpent to St. John’s apocalyptic vision of the Great Beast, from beginning to end, Scripture is filled with the accounts of the assaults that demonic forces make upon the souls of men and women. The writers of the New Testament and the Old Testament, in powerful wisdom, observe and document the presence and influence of evil spirits in the world.
In God’s word, these spirits are called by many names: Satan, Lucifer, Prince of Darkness, as well as Beelzebub. And it mattered little what form or name the spirit might take. Each was equally destructive and caustic. Satan’s influence can be seen in the erosion of King Saul’s sanity (1 Samuel 16:14-23 ff) and in King Azahiah’s turning to pagan idols for relief in his illness rather than the one true God (2 Kings 1:1-4). The same eroding power can be seen in the diabolic madness of the Gadarene Demoniac whom Jesus healed (Matthew 8:28-35; Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39). Luke recounts many of Paul’s interactions with demonic forces in Acts. It seems that the world of the Old and New Testament were aware and accustomed to the presence of demonic spirits.  {read the rest of this article, click here}
